About me

As a doctoral candidate in plant ecology in the D'Antonio Lab at the University of California, Santa Barbara, I study plant community and ecosystem ecology in the context of restoration.

In addition to my research, I engage in a wide variety of science communication and engagement activities: I am a lecturer in restoration ecology at UCSB; I maintain a website on gender diversity in STEM, I work as a community organizer and legislative advocate to keep higher education accessible to all; and I volunteer with environmental and citizen science groups.

Before starting my PhD, I wrote online help articles at Google, created a tree identification blog, started a folk band, and double majored in Linguistics and Celtic Studies at UC Berkeley.

I am looking for opportunities to combine my scientific training with my communication and advocacy skills to create positive change for the earth and everyone living on it.
